Generative rendering
Every hexagon is generated and rendered from one set of rules, so thousands of unique pieces still belong to the same system.
Work
A blockchain block puzzle built from the web's original colour palette.
SVG1.1 Hexagons is a homage to the early days of the web and the newer world of the blockchain. It starts with the SVG 1.1 named colour palette, the 147 colours like cornflowerblue and papayawhip that browsers have understood for decades, and asks what a collectable digital artwork built from them could look like.
The answer is a block puzzle of more than 35,000 individually rendered hexagons that snap together to form one complete image. Each piece is its own token, and as with any good puzzle, the centre pieces are the easiest to find. It was an experiment in generative design at scale, and a hands-on way to understand how minting, digital ownership and marketplaces really work.
