One Update A Day

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 17/02/2025
Ofishial Digital Ltd
(“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the One Update A Day mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. Data we collect

1.1 Account and profile
  • Sign-in: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive an identifier and, depending on the provider, your email and display name. We use these to create and manage your account.
  • Profile: We store your email, display name, account creation date, and (for paid users) subscription-related fields (e.g. status, tier, expiry) so we can provide the service and subscription features.
1.2 Content you create
  • Daily updates: For each day you check in, we store which life pillars you selected (connection, health, sleep, passion, growth, meaning), an optional short summary (up to 256 characters), and, for paid users, an optional mood value.
  • Summary text is encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers; we cannot read it without your device key or your optional recovery passphrase.
1.3 App usage and preferences
  • Preferences: Theme (light/dark/auto), language, date format, and timezone, if you set them.
  • Reminders: If you enable push reminders, we store your reminder on/off setting and the time (in UTC) you chose, plus an Expo push token so we can send the reminder.
  • Cached stats: We store aggregated counts (e.g. pillar counts over 7/30/365 days, current and longest streak) to show progress without re-reading all your updates every time.
1.4 Technical and support
  • Crash and error reports: In production builds we may send crash reports and error context to Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs. We do not intentionally include your journal content in these reports.
  • Subscriptions: Subscription status and purchase info are processed by RevenueCat and the stores (Apple App Store, Google Play); we receive subscription state (e.g. active, expired) to unlock features.

2. How we use your data

We use the data above to:

  • Create and secure your account and sign-in.
  • Store and display your daily updates, progress, and insights.
  • Send you push reminders if you have enabled them.
  • Provide subscription features (e.g. Pro tier) and manage access.
  • Improve the App (e.g. fixing crashes and errors).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal data or journal content to third parties for advertising.

3. Who we share data with

We use the following services that process data on our behalf:

We only share data with these parties as needed to operate the App. They have their own privacy policies; we encourage you to read them.

4. Data storage and security

  • Where: Data is stored using Google Firebase (including Firestore), which may process and store data in regions chosen by Google. RevenueCat and Expo may process data in accordance with their own policies.
  • Encryption: Your daily summary text is encrypted on the device before it is sent to our servers. The encryption key is stored on your device (Expo SecureStore). We do not have access to the key unless you use the optional recovery passphrase feature and store a backup.
  • Security: We use industry-standard practices (e.g. secure connections, access controls) to protect your data. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data retention

  • Account and content: We retain your account and daily updates for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (or ask us to), we will delete or anonymize your data in line with our retention procedures and applicable law.
  • Push token: We keep your Expo push token only while reminders are enabled; if you turn reminders off or we detect an invalid token, we may remove it.
  • Crash/error data: Crashlytics data is retained according to Firebase’s policies; we do not retain it longer than necessary for debugging.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
